KUWAIT: Under the patronage and in the presence of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at Bayan Palace on Sunday, marking the official start of the country’s national celebrations.
The ceremony was attended by HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Supreme Judicial Council and Chief Justice of the Court of Cassation Dr Adel Majed Bouresli and senior state officials.
Upon the arrival of HH the Amir’s motorcade, a 21-gun salute was fired in his honor. He was warmly received by members of the armed forces, police and National Guard. HH the Amir then raised the national flag, the national anthem was played and the military band performed a musical display.
The annual ceremony reflects deep pride national and joy, as Kuwait commemorates the 65th anniversary of its National Day and 35th anniversary of Liberation Day, honoring the country’s history and achievements. The occasion underscores the leadership’s commitment to reinforce unity as the foundation of continued progress and developments.
Flag hoisting ceremonies took place across Kuwait’s six governorates amid a festive atmosphere, alongside nationwide activities and events. The country will reflect on its achievements on both the regional and international levels, while events will also pay tribute to Kuwait’s independence and the sacrifices made during the Iraqi invasion in 1990, honoring those who contributed to the country’s liberation. – KUNA
