KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday issued a set of decrees appointing new senior officials in the Amiri Diwan and the Crown Prince Diwan. Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah was appointed as Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs with the rank of a minister, effective Sept 1.
HH the Amir also appointed Sheikh Abdulaziz Meshal Mubarak Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan. In addition, Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was appointed as Head of the Crown Prince Diwan with the rank of a minister, for a four-year term starting Sept 1. The decrees shall be implemented by HH the Prime Minister and ministers and published in the official gazette.

Sheikh Hamad, the newly appointed Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs, earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kuwait University in 1989. He served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the cabinets formed in Dec 2020, March 2021 and Dec 2021. He was minister of information between Nov 2011 and Feb 2012, and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from Feb 2007 to Nov 2011.
From 2003 to 2006, he served as Director of the Office of HH the Crown Prince with the rank of undersecretary, and earlier, between 1998 and 2001, he was Assistant undersecretary for the office of the foreign procurement sector at the ministry of defense and head of the office of the deputy prime minister and minister of defense.
Sheikh Hamad also served at Kuwait’s Embassy in Italy between 1993 and 1997, and prior to that, from 1991 to 1993, he worked at the office of the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs. He began his career as a political researcher in the office of the minister of interior between 1989 and 1991. — KUNA
