KUWAIT: The UAE Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr Matar Al Neyadi, affirmed on Tuesday that Kuwaiti-Emirati relations continue to advance towards broader horizons of cooperation, underpinned by long-standing historical ties and genuine brotherhood between the two nations. His remarks came on the occasion of the UAE’s 54th National Day celebrations, held this year under the slogan “United.”
In a press statement, Ambassador Al Neyadi highlighted the continuous momentum in bilateral relations, reflected in reciprocal visits, high-level meetings, and the signing of 16 agreements and memoranda of understanding in 2025 across various sectors. He emphasized that these initiatives aim to strengthen partnership and expand cooperation between the two brotherly countries, contributing to deeper collaboration in all fields.
The Ambassador noted that trade between Kuwait and the UAE continues to grow, with non-oil trade reaching AED 27.1 billion (approximately US$7 billion) in the first half of 2025, a 15 percent increase from the same period last year. This figure rose to AED 38.8 billion (around US$10 billion) during the first nine months of 2025, marking a 7.6 percent increase. He underscored that Kuwait is one of the UAE’s most important trading partners, while the UAE is Kuwait’s second largest global trading partner and its largest in the Arab and Gulf region, accounting for about 20 percent of Kuwait’s non-oil exports.
Highlighting the strength of economic ties, Ambassador Al Neyadi added that trade between the two countries represented nearly two-thirds of Kuwait’s trade with GCC states in 2024, with further growth expected in 2025. He also pointed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s initiative to celebrate decades of Emirati-Kuwaiti brotherhood from January 29 for a full week, describing it as a testament to the deep fraternal relations and high regard in which Kuwait is held by the UAE leadership and people.
Ambassador Al Neyadi explained that this year’s National Day theme, “United,” embodies the core values of the UAE’s founding principles: unity, cohesion between the leadership and people, and the belief that a strong Emirati family is the foundation of the nation’s progress and leadership. He recalled the legacy of the founding fathers, led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who instilled solidarity, determination, and teamwork in the Emirati people, paving the way for a nation that fulfills the aspirations of its citizens.
He also highlighted the UAE’s achievements across diverse fields, including economic development, resource diversification, future technologies, artificial intelligence, space exploration, renewable energy, military industries, and food security. Al Neyadi stressed that the UAE continues to play an active role in promoting regional and international stability and peace, fostering partnerships and dialogue, and advancing humanitarian initiatives aimed at building a prosperous and secure future for all. – KUNA
