You’ve played at Anfield twice, you’ve scored at Anfield twice. How was it playing there as an opponent?
Very difficult. I’ve had a little bit of success there but not as a team, I think we lost both games. It’s a very difficult place to come to and to win, which I’ve felt. The atmosphere is something extraordinary. I’m excited to be a part of that.
You have had some success against Liverpool as a player. What was it like facing Liverpool as an opponent, coming up against the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and the others? What kind of challenge was that?
Oh, it’s very challenging, of course. We’re talking about some of the best defenders in the world. So, it’s a big challenge. But personally, I love those types of challenges, I love to come up against the best and test myself. I always loved playing against Liverpool and I’m hoping it’s going to be better playing for Liverpool.
To play at Anfield now in the red as a Liverpool player, how exciting is that prospect?
It’s so exciting. I think it’s something difficult to put into words, I think you have to experience it and then explain. I think we all know what Liverpool is about, the fans and what they’re about as well. So, yeah, looking forward to getting to experience that.
You said earlier you felt by coming here you could improve as a player but what qualities do you want to add to this team?
Everything. I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well. So yeah, everything.
How much are you looking forward to joining an attack that includes the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz? You’ll get some chances in that team…
Yeah, I’m looking forward to that. You’re mentioning some world-class players there – they’ve done well when I’ve played on the other side and it’s going to be nice to be on the same team. I just hope I can bring my qualities and add to the team and I just want to have a great season.
