MANAMA: The Kuwaiti Al-Sadu Handicraft Society inaugurated its “Contemporary Al-Sadu Expressions” exhibition at Pearl Trail – Hanin Rehan as part of the Muharraq Nights Festival, highlighting Kuwait’s rich craft heritage. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, the Society’s Chairperson, Sheikha Bibi Duaij Al-Sabah, reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to presenting Kuwaiti works in international exhibitions. She expressed pride in Kuwait’s participation as the first country to join the Muharraq Nights Festival, describing it as a reflection of the deep cultural cooperation between the two nations.
Sheikha Al-Sabah lauded the festival for promoting authentic Bahraini heritage and preserving cultural traditions for future generations. She extended her gratitude to the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities for their invitation, excellent organization and support, which ensured the success of Kuwait’s participation. The exhibition features a collection of artistic and craft works inspired by Al-Sadu patterns, blending traditional motifs with contemporary techniques. It includes collaborative creations by Kuwaiti and Bahraini designers, showcasing the shared artistic vision and cultural history that unite the two sister countries.
The opening was attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities; Sheikha Altaf Salem Al Ali Al-Sabah, Patron and Honorary President of the Al-Sadu Society; Sheikha Bibi Duaij Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Society; Counselor Yousef Al Banwan, Chargé d’Affaires of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Bahrain; Bahraini Ambassador Salah Al Malki; Qatari Ambassador Nasser Al Nasr; and several cultural and artistic figures. The exhibition, which opened Saturday evening, continues until December 30, 2025, offering visitors a unique cultural experience that explores Al-Sadu art through a contemporary lens, combining authenticity with innovation. — KUNA
