KUWAIT: The Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy weather with chances of scattered rain, fog and variable winds that may stir up dust, particularly in open areas. Conditions are expected to be generally warm to hot during the day and mild in the early evening, turning cooler later at night. Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country will be affected from on Friday by an extension of a surface low-pressure system accompanied by a warm and humid air mass.
He explained that this will lead to an increase in low and medium-level clouds, with chances of scattered rainfall. Winds will be variable, shifting to southeasterly, and light to moderate in speed. Fog is expected to form in some areas during the evening and early morning hours of Friday, resulting in reduced horizontal visibility. Al-Ali added that beginning Saturday, the low-pressure system will gradually recede, allowing a high-pressure system to move in. The shift will transform the air mass into a relatively dry one, with moderate to occasionally active southwesterly to northwesterly winds that may raise dust, especially in open areas.
He noted that the winds may also lead to high sea waves, with a continued chance of scattered light rain. Overall, weather conditions at the end of the week are expected to remain warm to hot during the day, mild in the early evening and cooler at night. Regarding the weather, Al-Ali said it will be warm and partly cloudy, with light to moderate winds shifting from variable to southeasterly at speeds ranging between 6 and 30 km/h. There is a chance of scattered rain and light fog in coastal areas. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius, while the sea will be slight to moderate, with waves between 1 and 3 feet.
Friday’s weather will be cool and partly cloudy, with light to moderate southeasterly to variable winds between 6 and 28 km/h. Fog may form in some areas, with a chance of scattered light rain. Minimum temperatures are forecast between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius, and the sea will remain slight to moderate with waves between 1 and 3 feet. On Friday, the weather is expected to be warm, with reduced horizontal visibility due to fog that will gradually improve. Winds will be light to moderate, shifting from variable to southeasterly at speeds between 8 and 30 km/h, with some scattered clouds. Maximum temperatures will range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be slight to moderate with waves between 1 and 3 feet.
Friday night will be mild to cool and partly cloudy, with light to moderate southeasterly to variable winds at speeds between 10 and 32 km/h. Fog may form in some areas. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, while the sea will be slight to moderate with waves between 2 and 4 feet. On Saturday, Al-Ali said temperatures will rise noticeably under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be southwesterly, shifting to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed and occasionally gusting between 15 and 50 km/h.
Dust is likely in open areas, with a possibility of scattered light rain later in the day. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be slight to moderate, occasionally rising between 2 and 6 feet.
