KUWAIT: The Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwaiti Diplomatic Institute organized a celebration to mark Graish, a Kuwaiti tradition that brings people together to share a meal ahead of the arrival of Ramadan, on Wednesday, attended by Ambassador Aziz Al-Dehani, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Kuwait and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Nasser Subaih Al Subaih, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwaiti Diplomatic Institute, said the event reflects the institute’s efforts to highlight Kuwaiti cultural identity within diplomatic work and to strengthen the humanitarian and community dimension of official activities through effective national partnerships bringing together government bodies, the private sector and public benefit institutions.
Ambassador Al Subaih noted that the event featured distinguished participation by people with disabilities, who presented heritage products of their own making. Kuwaiti craftsmen and historians also contributed by showcasing traditional crafts, artifacts, and historical manuscripts documenting important aspects of Kuwait’s history, reflecting the country’s cultural diversity and the depth of its national and historical legacy.
He stressed that the partnership embodies the institute’s belief in the importance of joint institutional action in promoting national culture, consolidating social inclusion and celebrating Kuwaiti values, underlining that culture is a fundamental pillar in building a balanced and open diplomacy. In the same context, he explained that 2025 witnessed extensive institutional activity by the institute, with 27 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements signed with counterpart institutions, regional and international institutes and academies, as well as private sector entities and civil society organizations, in a bid to broaden cooperation and exchange expertise.
He added that in 2025, the institute implemented 81 training programs, benefiting 52 entities, with a total of 1,383 trainees within Kuwait. Additionally, 46 external training courses were conducted, involving 224 trainees from 24 countries, as part of programs designed to develop diplomatic and administrative competencies. Al Subaih further said that through its diplomatic hospitality program, the institute hosted seven international delegations in 2025 and two in 2026, including delegations from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as well as Spain, Mexico, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tunisia, Algeria and Jordan.
For his part, Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait, praised the annual initiative organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the diplomatic institute, saying it has become a well-established tradition that reflects Kuwait’s institutional approach to supporting diplomatic work and strengthening channels of communication with accredited missions.
He noted that the diplomatic institute plays a pivotal role in preparing and qualifying young diplomatic cadres through specialized training programs, workshops, and seminars that refine professional skills and enhance performance in line with the rapid developments in international relations. He emphasized that such initiatives reflect the positive spirit prevailing in Kuwait’s relations with countries around the world and underscore its status as a center for dialogue and convergence. He praised the organization and the high level of participation and expressed his hope that these events will continue to strengthen bonds of friendship and understanding among people and nations.
