KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace on Sunday Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and an accompanying delegation on the occasion of their official visit to Kuwait.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to HH the Amir, wishing him continued health and prosperity and further progress for Kuwait. HH the Amir reciprocated the greetings, conveying his regards to the Amir of Qatar and expressing hopes for continued growth and prosperity for Qatar and its people under their wise leadership.
The visit coincided with the convening of the seventh session of the Kuwaiti–Qatari Joint Higher Committee for Cooperation, held earlier Sunday in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti side was headed by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah, while the Qatari side was led by Sheikh Mohammed.
The committee reviewed the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and explored ways to further enhance cooperation across key sectors, including political, economic, investment, cultural and other fields, reflecting the shared desire to advance bilateral relations to broader levels of integration. Regional and international developments were also discussed, along with efforts to strengthen joint coordination in addressing current challenges.

These included a news exchange cooperation agreement between the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and Qatar News Agency (QNA), a memorandum of understanding on consumer protection, an MoU on cybersecurity cooperation and another on competition protection.
Speaking during the committee meeting, Sheikh Jarrah said Kuwaiti-Qatari relations represent a solid model of genuine brotherhood and deep-rooted ties built on mutual trust and shared destiny over decades. He noted that relations continue to progress steadily under the guidance of the two countries’ leaderships and emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional mechanisms and ensuring effective follow-up on the committee’s outcomes. He added that the two countries mark 55 years of diplomatic relations this year.
Sheikh Mohammed said the meeting reflects the wise political will of both leaderships, particularly amid sensitive regional and international conditions, stressing alignment in views and positions on key issues. He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Kuwait and congratulated the country on the upcoming 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day. – KUNA
