KUWAIT: The social affairs and justice ministries held a meeting Thursday to strengthen protections for families and children. Social Affairs Minister Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah and Justice Minister Nasser Al-Sumait discussed ways their departments can coordinate on the government’s joint program for family and child protection.
A statement from the Ministry of Social Affairs said the meeting follows directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. It aims to enhance institutional cooperation and ensure clear roles between relevant authorities.

During the discussion, the ministers emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas and coordinating efforts to improve the quality of services offered to families and children. They stressed that all actions must respect existing legal frameworks and avoid overlapping responsibilities.
Dr Al-Huwailah and Al-Sumait reviewed the overall structure of the joint program, highlighting areas where different government bodies can collaborate to support family stability and child welfare. They also explored sharing expertise and experiences to serve the public interest and strengthen joint government work.
Representatives from several non-profit organizations focused on women and children attended the meeting.
