Official highlights interest in showcasing region’s shared history, including Dilmun
ABU DHABI: Kuwait is looking to deepen cultural cooperation with the United Arab Emirates by learning from the UAE’s experience in developing museums. Mohammad bin Redha, Acting Assistant Secretary General for Antiquities and Museums at Kuwait’s National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, said the coming period will see stronger coordination with Emirati counterparts to activate joint cooperation in museums and heritage. He added that this will include organizing visits, exchanging expertise, coordinating schedules and signing memoranda of understanding to strengthen shared cultural work.
Bin Redha made the remarks after visiting the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi, at the invitation of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. The visit coincided with a week-long celebration of Kuwaiti-Emirati relations.
He said both sides are interested in the region’s shared history and ancient civilizations, including the Dilmun civilization. He added that documenting and highlighting this heritage through exhibitions and museum programs is important.
Bin Redha expressed thanks to Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism for the invitation and for cultural initiatives that reflect the UAE’s interest in strengthening cultural cooperation with Kuwait in what he described as a brotherly atmosphere reflecting the depth of ties between the two countries.
At the Zayed National Museum, Bin Redha viewed key exhibits which present the life of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He praised the advanced level reached by the Zayed National Museum in exhibition presentation, scientific research and the organization of cultural events. — KUNA
