DAVOS: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Switzerland have taken a step toward closer cooperation, signing a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic dialogue between the two sides. The agreement was signed on Tuesday by GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi and Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis on the sidelines of the 56th annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the GCC Secretariat said in a statement.
Al-Budaiwi described the memorandum as part of efforts by both parties to strengthen their bilateral relations, reflecting a shared commitment to developing a strategic partnership at all levels. “Signing this memorandum with the Swiss side represents an important step toward enhancing cooperation and partnership between the GCC and Switzerland, opening wider avenues for coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest,” he said. Following the signing ceremony, Al-Budaiwi met with Cassis to discuss ways to boost relations and address regional and international matters of common concern. — KUNA
