KUWAIT: Deliveroo Kuwait has officially launched a landmark sustainability initiative, becoming the first delivery aggregator in Kuwait to introduce a structured and environmentally responsible system for the disposal of used rider uniforms and kit reflecting Deliveroo’s commitment to environmental sustainability as part of its global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy with a focus on Reaching net zero and reducing waste.
Developed in partnership with Easy Move, Deliveroo’s long-standing logistics partner, and JTA Company (JTA Services), a licensed waste transportation provider equipped with its own fleet and trained personnel, the initiative ensures that used rider kits (including helmets, thermal bags, and other uniform items) are collected, transported, and disposed of safely and responsibly to the landfill of the Public Authority for Industry. All solid and liquid waste generated from these items will be handled in accordance with national environmental regulations, preventing misuse, environmental harm, and improper circulation of branded materials.
Through scheduled collections, Easy Move and JTA Services will ensure outdated kits are securely transported and processed through approved disposal streams. This includes dismantling, shredding, and treating components in full compliance with Kuwait’s environmental standards. The initiative establishes clear visibility over the end-of-life cycle of rider kits, ensuring materials are responsibly managed while reinforcing Deliveroo’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of plastic and textile waste.
The initiative addresses a longstanding challenge across the delivery sector: the after-life of rider equipment. With thousands of kits used annually, improper disposal contributes to plastic accumulation, waste-management pressures, and potential brand misuse. Deliveroo’s program introduces a controlled system that reduces landfill waste, lowers carbon footprint through certified disposal processes, and supports Kuwait’s broader environmental objectives.
“As the first delivery aggregator in Kuwait to implement a responsible rider kit disposal program, we are proud to lead the way in creating meaningful environmental impact,” said Yazan Aburaqabah, the Director of Operations at Deliveroo Middle East. “This initiative reinforces Deliveroo’s long-term commitment to sustainability while ensuring our brand materials are managed responsibly. Partnering with Easy Move and JTA Services allows us to execute this initiative to the highest environmental and safety standards.”
