KUWAIT: Several police personnel and workers were injured on Sunday in a fire that broke out at the general department of correctional facilities building in Sulaibiya, the interior ministry said. In a press statement, the ministry said it received a report through the operations room, prompting the immediate response of relevant authorities. Firefighting teams from Kuwait Fire Force, along with emergency medical services, dealt with the incident in accordance with established procedures.
The injured were transported to hospital to receive the necessary medical care, with their health conditions remaining under follow-up, the ministry added. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and to take the necessary legal measures.
Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, accompanied by Health Minister Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi, visited the injured as they received medical treatment.
According to the ministry, Sheikh Fahad was briefed on the health conditions of the injured and directed that all necessary medical care be provided, with continued follow-up.
He also instructed officials to investigate the circumstances of the fire, identify its causes, take appropriate measures in line with applicable regulations and ensure compliance with safety requirements at the facility to prevent similar incidents in the future. Sheikh Fahad stressed the importance of adhering to safety and prevention measures across all interior ministry facilities. – KUNA
