KUWAIT: The first Salhiya Fine Arts Forum opened on Sunday, bringing together 23 Kuwaiti artists in a public setting designed to draw art closer to everyday audiences. Organized in cooperation between the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), the Arab Media Forum and Salhiya Complex, the exhibition features 51 paintings and art pieces. It runs until January 17.
Speaking at the opening, NCCAL Secretary General Dr Mohammed Al-Jassar said the forum reflects ongoing cooperation between cultural and media institutions and private spaces to support Kuwait’s fine arts movement.

The first Salhiya Fine Arts Forum features 51 paintings and art pieces by Kuwaiti artists.

He said the aim is to give Kuwaiti artists more opportunities to present their work in open, accessible venues that allow direct engagement with the public. Al-Jassar noted that the exhibition includes paintings and ceramic works by Kuwaiti artists representing a range of artistic and intellectual schools. He added that the quality and diversity of the works highlight the global presence of Kuwaiti fine art and reflect the development and richness of its creative experiences.
Al-Jassar also pointed to the importance of hosting art exhibitions in commercial complexes, saying such spaces help connect artists with audiences who may not usually engage with visual art. These initiatives, he said, can open new horizons for the public to discover fine art and build an ongoing relationship with it, adding that this encourages the council to continue supporting cultural events in public spaces. — KUNA
