KUWAIT: Kuwait is expected to be affected by dust-raising winds and scattered rainfall from Friday evening through Saturday morning, while weekend weather will be mild during the day and cold to very cold at night, with a chance of frost in agricultural and desert areas, the Meteorology Department said.
Acting Director Dharar Al-Ali told KUNA that weather charts and numerical models indicate the country will initially be influenced by a weakening surface high-pressure system, allowing a low-pressure system accompanied by a cold air mass to advance. This will lead to increased southeasterly winds shifting to northwesterly winds from Friday evening into early Saturday, bringing dust and chances of scattered rain.
Al-Ali said Thursday’s daytime weather will be mild, with northwesterly to variable winds at 6-28 km/h. Daytime highs will range between 19°C and 21°C, with seas light to moderate at 1-3 feet. Thursday night’s weather was cold to very cold, with light and variable winds at 6–22 km/h, a chance of frost over agricultural and desert areas, and some scattered clouds later on. Overnight lows were expected to range between 5°C and 7°C, with seas light at 1–2 feet.
On Friday, conditions will be mild and partly cloudy to cloudy, with variable to southeasterly winds at 6-38 km/h. Maximum temperatures are expected between 20°C and 22°C, and seas will be light to moderate at 1-5 feet. Friday night will be cooler, cloudy to partly cloudy, with southeasterly winds turning northwesterly, becoming moderate to strong and occasionally gusty at 20-60 km/h, raising dust and bringing a chance of scattered rain over northern areas. Minimum temperatures will range between 8°C and 10°C, while seas will be moderate to high at 4-7 feet.
Saturday’s daytime weather will be mild and partly cloudy, with northwesterly winds at 15-45 km/h, occasionally active, bringing dust to exposed areas and light, scattered rain over northern regions. Highs are forecast at 18°C to 20°C, with seas moderate to high at 3-6 feet. Saturday night will be cold, partly cloudy to cloudy, with northwesterly to variable winds at 8–32 km/h.
