KUWAIT: Kuwait witnessed a dynamic year in 2025, with His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah actively representing the country in key political, regional and international engagements, while overseeing domestic initiatives that reinforced national development and cultural heritage.
Regional engagements
On February 23, His Highness the Crown Prince received Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr Mustafa Madboulyi and His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Advisor, during their official visits to Kuwait. On March 4, he led Kuwait’s delegation to the extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo. His Highness performed the Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the Grand Mosque on March 30 and inaugurated the new maternity hospital in Sabah Health District on April 9.
Later that month, he received the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul-Gheit, at Bayan Palace. In May, His Highness the Crown Prince led Kuwait’s delegations to major international summits, including the second ASEAN-GCC-China Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where he attended the signing of a joint statement to launch negotiations for a GCC-Malaysia free trade agreement, and the official visit to Japan, including meetings with Emperor Naruhito and visits to Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Global engagements
Throughout June and July, His Highness the Crown Prince hosted visiting dignitaries from the United Kingdom and other friendly countries, including David Lammy, UK Foreign Secretary, and representatives of the King’s Foundation. He also undertook official visits abroad to strengthen bilateral relations, including to France, Japan and Malaysia. In September, he led Kuwait’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, delivering Kuwait’s speech, representing the GCC, and participating in high-level meetings addressing the Palestinian issue and international peace initiatives. During the same month, he undertook official visits to Qatar and the United States to advance Kuwait’s diplomatic presence and engagement.
Cultural initiatives
His Highness the Crown Prince also received numerous international officials throughout the year, including ministers and senior representatives from Somalia, Lebanon, the European Union, China, and Vietnam, underscoring Kuwait’s commitment to international cooperation and regional stability. Under his patronage, the opening of the exhibition Between Two Masterpieces: The Origins of the House of Islamic Antiquities was held at the American Cultural Center in Kuwait City on December 15, highlighting the country’s efforts to promote cultural and artistic exchange.
