KUWAIT: Sponsored by KIPCO – Kuwait Projects Company (Holding) – nine teens between the ages of 15 and 17 embarked on LOYAC’s ‘Winter Leadership Retreat’ in Thailand. The eight-day retreat is held as part of KIPCO’s ongoing partnership with LOYAC, a local non-profit organization that aims to empower youth to become impactful leaders in society. The program incorporates LOYAC’s flagship ‘7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens’ workshop by Franklin Covey, in addition to activities that reinforce teamwork and leadership, foster personal independence and build connections with peers.
During five days spent in Chiang Mai’s ‘Horizon Village’ and three days in Bangkok, and under the supervision of chaperones, the teens took part in a variety of activities including a Muay Thai training session, Thai cooking class, ziplining and traditional bamboo fan weaving. The events of each day were designed to align with the 7 Habits that the teens were being trained on. Sumayah Al Mulla, Assistant Manager for Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, represented KIPCO and was one of the chaperones of the trip. She said: “At KIPCO, we believe that investing in youth is an investment in the future of our nation.
Empowering the next generation is a cornerstone of our corporate social responsibility, and we are committed to providing opportunities that help them grow and thrive. This ‘Winter Leadership Retreat’ is more than just an experience; it’s a unique platform designed to inspire teenagers and equip them with essential skills such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and resilience, all while stepping outside their comfort zones. We see in every participant a potential leader, and we are confident that the positive impact of this experience will extend to their personal lives and their future contributions to building their community and the future of Kuwait.”
