KUWAIT: The Embassy of the United States in Kuwait held its Public Affairs Holiday and New Year Reception on Tuesday, celebrating the longstanding partnership between the two countries. During his opening remarks, Steven Butler, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kuwait, praised the robust US-Kuwait relationship, emphasizing decades of cooperation, shared interests and mutual goodwill.
He highlighted the depth of diplomatic, commercial, and defense ties, noting that Kuwait’s status as a Major Non-NATO Ally remains vital to both US and regional security, with ongoing collaboration serving the national interests of both nations. Butler pointed to US President Donald Trump’s focus on the Middle East, citing the president’s early overseas visit to the region as a demonstration of Washington’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, including with Kuwait, to foster a more stable and prosperous region.
He also recognized the contributions of individuals and institutions dedicated to deepening bilateral ties through education, cultural exchange, media cooperation, civil society initiatives and public service, noting that these efforts help build mutual understanding and create meaningful opportunities for both countries. Expressing gratitude to the US Embassy’s Public Affairs Section, Butler commended its dedication and creativity in fostering connections across Kuwaiti communities. Looking ahead, he expressed optimism for continued collaboration in the coming year, including new exchanges and initiatives designed to support the next generation of leaders, innovators and storytellers in Kuwait.
