KUWAIT: The Gulf Arab States Educational Research Center (GASERC) on Sunday launched the “First Gulf Meeting for Educational Researchers” under the patronage of Kuwaiti Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei and Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, Dr Mohammad Al-Muqbel. The event, held at GASERC’s headquarters, is scheduled to continue until Monday.
In his opening keynote, Minister Al-Tabtabaei expressed his pleasure in hosting leading educational figures, policymakers, and experts from GCC states. He emphasized that educational research forms the foundation for overhauling the sector, noting that rapid changes and mounting challenges require “evolving our research techniques and enhancing integration of visions and experiences to meet the demands of the current era.” Dr Al-Muqbel, speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), said the meeting aligns with GCC states’ ongoing efforts to advance their educational systems, stressing that investing in educational research supports informed and strategic decision-making.

GASERC Director Dr Mohammad Al-Sharika highlighted that the meeting aims to establish a sustainable platform for researchers and decision-makers to exchange knowledge and expertise in the educational field. Headquartered in Kuwait, GASERC operates under the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States as a regional think tank tasked with supporting in-depth educational research and enhancing educational practices and policies across GCC countries. The GCC, founded in the early 1980s, comprises Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. — KUNA
