KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah and Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei affirmed on Thursday that the national campaign “This Is Your Turn” reinforces the principle that environmental preservation is a shared societal duty and stands as a practical model for translating educational concepts into on-ground initiatives that strengthen responsibility and active citizenship.
The remarks came in separate speeches delivered by both ministers during the campaign’s closing ceremony. Launched by the Ministry of Social Affairs on November 2 at the northwest beach of Sulaibikhat, the campaign witnessed broad participation from government agencies, private-sector institutions, and volunteer teams. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, protect the environment, and build a conscious society engaged in improving quality of life and spreading awareness.
Dr Al-Huwailah said the campaign was introduced with a clear national vision that stresses the shared responsibility of protecting Kuwait’s environment, maintaining public cleanliness and upholding community values. She noted that this responsibility begins with individuals and is strengthened through collective community cooperation. She emphasized that the campaign was not a one-time event but evolved into a national project that transformed from a slogan into daily practice in schools, homes, streets, and institutions. Dr Al-Huwailah praised the commendable cooperation seen in recent days, reflecting heightened community awareness and solidarity. She highlighted the enthusiastic participation of students supported by their schools, as well as the dedicated efforts of government agencies in ensuring the initiative’s success.

She also acknowledged the support provided by governors, the contributions of private-sector companies, and the significant role of volunteer teams from planning to execution. Dr Al-Huwailah expressed gratitude to all entities and individuals involved, especially the students, whom she described as “the hope and the message.” She stressed that the campaign’s success marks the beginning of broader initiatives aimed at promoting positive behavior and strengthening national partnerships.
For his part, Minister Al-Tabtabaei said the “This Is Your Turn” campaign serves as a practical example of transforming classroom learning into real field-based activities that instill responsibility and active citizenship in students. He noted that the event reflects a unified national effort that embodies integration among state institutions. He added that the combined efforts of ministries, governorates, volunteer groups, and the private sector contributed to a national movement focused on beautifying the country and reinforcing core values.
Al-Tabtabaei affirmed that the Ministry of Education is committed to building a generation aware of its national duties, noting that educational programs now include themes of social responsibility, volunteerism, and environmental protection. Students’ participation in cleaning beaches and parks, he said, reflects their awareness of the importance of safeguarding the nation. He praised the leadership of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the efforts of Dr Al-Huwailah in broadening participation to include diverse sectors, giving the campaign a comprehensive national dimension. He concluded by extending appreciation to students, educational institutions, and all partners for their sincere contributions. —KUNA
