KUWAIT: Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah has stressed the importance of strengthening the defense system, enhancing its human and technical capabilities, and continuing efforts to develop the Air Defense Forces to safeguard Kuwait’s airspace and consolidate national security and stability. The remarks came following his patronage and attendance at the closing ceremony of the joint exercise “Sky Shield 2025,” conducted by the Kuwaiti Air Defense Forces and Air Force, with participation from Bahrain’s Missile Air Defense Force, the US Army, and the British military mission.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah lauded the effective cooperation with allied and friendly forces, noting that “Sky Shield 2025” serves as a practical model for enhancing combat readiness, improving Air Defense Forces’ efficiency, and strengthening joint operational capabilities. He praised the high level of professionalism and coordination demonstrated by all participants, describing it as “the result of great effort exerted throughout the exercise.” Upon arrival, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah was received by Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiaan, who provided a comprehensive briefing on the exercise’s various phases.
The exercise showcased the ability to operate jointly in a multi-force operational environment, applying modern air defense concepts. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah also witnessed live-fire exercises of air defense systems, highlighting precision engagement of aerial targets and effective coordination among participating units, aimed at exchanging expertise and enhancing tactical and operational capabilities. The closing ceremony was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Dr Sheikh Abdullah Meshaal Al-Sabah; Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Pilot Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; Commander of the Qatari Amiri Air Defense Forces, Major General Mohammed Al-Shahwani; and Deputy Commander of US Central Command, Major General Son Saleen.
Also present were Commander of Air and Missile Defense from the Bahrain Defense Force, Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Nuaimi; US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Steven Butler; Head of the British Military Mission, Brigadier General Shay Marks; and senior army officers. The Ministry noted that “Sky Shield 2025” is part of the Kuwaiti Army’s scheduled training programs with brotherly and friendly nations, aimed at raising personnel efficiency, developing combat capabilities, unifying operational concepts, and enhancing military integration through joint training and exercises. — KUNA
