KUWAIT: In a major blow to drug trafficking operations, the interior ministry’s criminal security sector, represented by the general department for drug control, uncovered a drug-processing site and dismantled a trafficking network run by two illegal residents, one of whom is currently serving a life sentence at the Central Prison for drug dealing.
The operation began with precise intelligence indicating that the two suspects were running an illicit scheme to store and prepare narcotics for distribution inside Kuwait. A specialized field team tracked one of the suspects to West Abdullah Al-Mubarak, where he was placed under surveillance and subsequently arrested.
Investigators then moved to a private camp in the Salmi desert, which the suspect had converted into a fully equipped drug-preparation warehouse. Inside, officers found 40 kg of chemical drugs, 60 kg of pregabalin (Lyrica) powder, eight kilograms of marijuana, 500 gm of hashish, five liters of liquid methamphetamine (shabu), 300 liters of chemical liquid, seven kilograms of chemical-soaked paper, two precision scales and various tools and equipment used for processing narcotics.
Initial investigations confirmed that the seized substances were intended for trafficking. The suspects and all confiscated materials were referred to the competent authorities for further legal action. The general department for drug control affirmed that its efforts to combat drug trafficking remain continuous and uncompromising, stressing that no offender will evade the reach of the law and that monitoring and enforcement operations are active around the clock to protect the community. — KUNA
