KUWAIT: Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has launched the “Excellence Award,” a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting innovation, teamwork, and high performance across the oil sector. Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, CEO of KPC, affirmed on Monday that the award reflects the corporation’s long-standing commitment to excellence and underscores the deeply rooted spirit of creativity within KPC and its subsidiaries.
Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah made his remarks during a ceremony attended by Oil Minister and KPC Chairman Tareq Al-Roumi, held to honor outstanding teams that contributed to the successful implementation of strategic projects during the 2024/2025 fiscal year. He expressed pride in the participation of over 60 teams and projects from various fields within Kuwait’s oil industry, noting the competitiveness and high standards demonstrated by all participants. Of the submissions, 19 projects were shortlisted as nominees for seven award categories, reflecting the diversity and quality of initiatives that support KPC’s strategic objectives.
“Today’s event highlights the dedication, teamwork, and continuous achievements of our employees at all levels,” Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah said. He also acknowledged the support of CEOs and managing directors across the sector, describing their encouragement as a key factor behind these accomplishments. Hisham Al-Rifai, KPC Managing Director of Human Resources and Comprehensive Services, noted that the Excellence Award embodies the corporation’s commitment to fostering talent, innovation, and human capital development.

“The award motivates employees, promotes a culture of excellence, and strengthens collaboration across teams,” he said, emphasizing its role in reinforcing KPC’s core values of excellence, innovation, and teamwork. The Excellence Award is the first of its kind in Kuwait’s oil sector to focus on teams rather than individuals. It aims to encourage cooperation among departments and subsidiaries, promote a spirit of healthy competition, and inspire teams to achieve peak performance while supporting the national economy.
Award categories include: Best Initiative in Exploration and Production; Refining and Marketing; People Management and Promoting a Positive Culture; Diversity and Inclusion; and Environment, Society, and Governance. Additionally, the awards recognize Best Effectiveness and Best Young Employee — the sole individual category for employees under 35 who are not in supervisory positions. The initiative is expected to further enhance innovation, drive performance, and strengthen the sector’s leadership role in Kuwait’s economic development. — KUNA
