KUWAIT: Kuwait University on Monday inaugurated its electric mobility project, Masar 1, at Sabah Al-Salem University City, marking a major step in promoting sustainable and smart transportation across the campus. In her address at the launch ceremony, University President Dr Dina Al-Maim described Masar 1 as a “pioneering initiative towards building a sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and technologically advanced university environment.” She highlighted that the project is “the first organized electric transportation system of its kind in Kuwait, reflecting a qualitative transformation in campus services.”
Dr. Al-Maim noted that the initiative aligns with the university’s vision of providing safe, efficient, and accessible transportation options, facilitating movement between buildings and colleges while alleviating traffic congestion within the campus. She also expressed her gratitude to all supporting entities, emphasizing that the collaboration represents a constructive community partnership, strengthening sustainable initiatives and contributing to a modern and integrated educational environment.
Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, Governor of Farwaniya, praised the project during the ceremony, acknowledging the General Secretariat of Endowments for their support in providing 15 electric vehicles for the campus route. He said the initiative enhances sustainable transportation and improves mobility for students and staff, reflecting the university’s and its partners’ commitment to advancing the academic environment and offering advanced services that meet the needs of the university community. The ceremony included a visual presentation by Director of Security and Safety Yousef Al-Khamis, which outlined the project’s implementation phases, approved routes, and the electric vehicles deployed for the initiative. — KUNA
