KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, chaired the 36th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Monitoring Major Development Projects at Bayan Palace on Thursday. His Highness underscored the importance of continuing to achieve national accomplishments within Kuwait’s comprehensive development process, which is progressing at an accelerated and steady pace toward a promising future. He emphasized the need to launch pioneering development projects to advance the goals of sustainable development and build on the successes attained through the diligent efforts of the Ministerial Follow-up Committee under the wise guidance of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, representatives from the Ministry of Public Works presented updates on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, including construction packages, procedural steps taken, and the preparation of necessary contractual documents. The committee also received a briefing on the North Kabd wastewater treatment plant project and its associated works, which aim to enhance the country’s sanitation infrastructure.
Ambassador Sameeh Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Member and Rapporteur of the Ministerial Committee, stated that the meeting reviewed progress reports from relevant government agencies on major development projects, including Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, electricity system cooperation, renewable energy development, low-carbon green waste recycling initiatives, housing development, environmental infrastructure projects, and efforts to combat desertification.
The committee also heard from a visiting technical team responsible for ecosystem development, afforestation expansion, environmental protection, and measures to mitigate sand encroachment. The delegation presented a visual report detailing project developments across several areas of the country and the modern technologies employed to address natural challenges. His Highness discussed strategies with the delegation to ensure practical solutions for national initiatives, while creating job opportunities and supporting food and water security. — KUNA
