KUWAIT: Under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the GE Vernova Technology Center celebrated its 10th anniversary in Kuwait on Tuesday, marking a decade of strategic partnership, innovation and talent development in the energy sector. His Highness toured the facility, the first regional GE Vernova center outside the United States, and received briefings on its research and development activities, including power generation, control systems, laboratory experiments and maintenance procedures.
In a press statement, he highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) and the center, noting its integrated control systems and operational capabilities that strengthen the national power grid. His Highness also emphasized the center’s vital role in training future leaders and developing national talent across modern energy technologies.
During the ceremony, Dr Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Acting Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, praised the center as a model of strategic cooperation contributing to Kuwait Vision 2035. Speaking on behalf of the government, he said the country’s long-term development priorities rely on strong integration between academia, research institutions, and industry to build a diversified, sustainable, knowledge-based economy.

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem highlighted that the training center has equipped 1,500 engineers from around the world with specialized skills, supporting job creation and advancing the human capital goals of Kuwait Vision 2035. The center’s engineering division is uniquely capable of simulating complex turbine control problems, providing advanced technological services and driving innovation in Kuwait’s energy sector.
Joseph Anis, Vice President of GE Vernova and CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, noted that the 10th anniversary marks a milestone in GE Vernova’s 50-year strategic partnership with Kuwait’s energy sector. He emphasized that the center, with its global expertise and local capabilities, is a cornerstone for reinforcing Kuwait’s position as a regional and international hub for advanced energy solutions.
Beyond technical innovation, the center actively engages in community development through social responsibility programs, partnerships with universities, training initiatives for promising talents, educational field trips for students, and community-oriented projects. Specialized engineering competitions are regularly organized to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, helping build the skills of Kuwaiti youth and fostering a culture of innovation.
Established in 2015, the GE Vernova Technology Center spans 6,000 square meters and houses state-of-the-art training, engineering, and laboratory facilities, managed by a team of distinguished Kuwaiti professionals. The center embodies GE Vernova’s long-term commitment to Kuwait and the wider region while supporting KDIPA’s objectives of attracting value-added foreign direct investment, accelerating technology transfer and enhancing skills development.
