KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi affirmed on Saturday that the training workshop on intestinal ultrasound technology, organized by the Kuwaiti Gastroenterology and Hepatology Association in cooperation with the International Organization for Intestinal and Gastrointestinal Ultrasound (IBUS), represents a key step in strengthening rehabilitation programs and building capacities in Kuwait’s health sector.
Speaking on the sidelines of the workshop, Dr Al-Awadhi said the Ministry’s participation reflects its strategic commitment to training medical, nursing, and technical staff. He noted that the workshop aims to qualify 36 doctors from Kuwait, GCC countries, and other Arab nations in the use of ultrasound technology for diagnosing digestive system diseases, marking a significant advancement in modern diagnostic methods. He explained that while ultrasound scans for digestive patients are traditionally performed by radiologists, training gastroenterologists in this skill opens new horizons and enhances diagnostic efficiency. Dr Al-Awadhi emphasized that professional training remains a priority for the Ministry both now and in the future.
