KUWAIT: Dar Suad Al-Sabah for Culture and Creativity has published a new book by Sheikha Dr Suad Muhammad Al-Sabah titled “The Two Sheikhs”, which chronicles the lives and contributions of the late ruler Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Deputy Ruler of Kuwait from 1950 to 1961. The publication is part of the house’s historical and intellectual series dedicated to documenting Kuwait’s rich heritage.
In a press statement on Sunday, the publishing house highlighted that the book spans seven chapters across approximately 460 pages in medium format, supplemented by photographs and historical documents. Dar Suad Al-Sabah also noted its active participation in the 48th Kuwait International Book Fair, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, and coinciding with Kuwait’s designation as Capital of Arab Culture and Media for 2025. The fair runs until November 29 at the Kuwait International Fairgrounds in Mishref.
Literary engagements
The fair continues to attract readers of all ages through book signings, author interactions, and discussions on a variety of literary themes. It serves as a dynamic platform for connecting readers with writers and engaging directly with the world of ideas and literature. This year, the Kuwait News Agency’s (KUNA) children’s magazine, Al-Saghir, drew significant attention during a “Story Reading” session at the children’s pavilion in Hall 5. Young attendees participated in an interactive reading of one of the magazine’s stories, accompanied by vivid illustrations designed to enhance comprehension and promote educational values. The session encouraged children to read aloud, engage with the narrative, and actively participate, reflecting their growing enthusiasm for educational and literary content.
KUNA’s presence at the fair underscores its commitment to fostering a culture of reading among children and supporting educational initiatives through media. Visitors to KUNA’s booth (No. 37, Hall 7) can explore the agency’s publications, learn about programs that develop children’s media literacy, and discover initiatives aimed at advancing media work in alignment with evolving digital trends. Al-Saghir continues to serve as an educational tool that nurtures imagination and broadens young minds through purposeful storytelling. — KUNA
