KUWAIT: Kuwait is aiming to bring in more international expertise for its major development projects and will hire a financial advisor to oversee legal, technical, and specialized consultants, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said Wednesday. HH Sheikh Ahmad chaired the 35th meeting of the ministerial committee monitoring major development projects at Bayan Palace.
He said the move is part of Kuwait’s effort to strengthen international partnerships and involve global firms in current and future initiatives. “We aim to attract more global expertise to participate in current and future major projects in Kuwait,” His Highness the Prime Minister said. He added that the government is open to hosting regional offices of international companies, and several major firms have already received licenses to set up in the country.
The financial advisor, to be hired through the Kuwait Investment Authority, will manage and coordinate the work of legal, technical, and other specialized consultants tied to these projects, HH Sheikh Ahmad said.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Samih Jowhar Hayat said the committee also reviewed updates on major projects, including Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, renewable energy initiatives, low-carbon waste recycling, housing developments, wastewater infrastructure, and environmental programs tackling desertification. The meeting also included briefings on agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between Kuwait and friendly countries.
Officials present included the Chief of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Public Works Minister Dr Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of State for Municipality and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari, and Director General of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. — KUNA
