KUWAIT: The Ministry of Health (MoH), through its Department of Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases, welcomed on Tuesday two teams from the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (GCDC) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) for a field visit to assess early cancer detection programs in Kuwait. In a press release, the Ministry said the three-day visit is part of ongoing collaboration with the GCDC and IARC to enhance national cancer prevention efforts.
The visit began with a meeting at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations, where the international teams met with Kuwaiti experts in early cancer detection, followed by field visits to primary, secondary and specialized healthcare facilities. The Ministry explained that the visit includes reviewing early detection service pathways across all levels of care and conducting interviews with specialists and relevant healthcare professionals.
The joint effort will lead to practical recommendations forming the basis of a national action plan aimed at improving the quality of early detection programs. The Ministry noted that the international teams will also provide capacity-building initiatives and practical training for lead trainers from Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, further strengthening regional expertise in cancer prevention. — KUNA
