Vietnamese PM meets Kuwaiti leadership • Deals signed, security cooperation discussed
KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace on Monday HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, along with his accompanying delegation, on their official visit to the country. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the distinguished bilateral relations between Kuwait and Vietnam and ways to further enhance and expand cooperation to serve their mutual interests.
The discussions also emphasized strengthening the strategic partnership between the two friendly nations, in addition to addressing issues of common concern and the latest regional and international developments. HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also received Chinh and his accompanying delegation.
HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad also received at Bayan Palace Chinh and his accompanying delegation. An official ceremony was held for the guest, during which the national anthems of the two states were played. The premiers then held official talks, where they discussed bilateral relations and frameworks of expanding cooperative horizons in various fields to serve the common interests of both peoples and friendly countries. They exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest and underlined willingness to develop strategic bilateral relations to cover new domains.
Both sides signed a protocol for the revised agreement of visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports, along with a memo of understanding between the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry’s Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute and the Vietnamese Diplomatic Academy of the Foreign Ministry of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. HH the Prime Minister then held a luncheon in honor of the Vietnamese PM and his accompanying delegation.
Acting Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry Maj Gen Ali Al-Adwani held talks on Monday with Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Sr Lt Gen Pham The Tung on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in security and police fields. The ministry said the meeting addressed coordination in combating cross-border crime, exchanging security expertise and information, and ensuring the safety of citizens of both countries.
The two sides also reviewed draft cooperation agreements and affirmed their keenness to strengthen institutional partnership to support joint efforts in crime prevention and community protection. The Vietnamese delegation expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized its interest in expanding future avenues of joint security cooperation. — KUNA
