KUWAIT: Information and Culture Minister, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, affirmed on Sunday that the 4th GCC Women Journalists Forum embodies unity of purpose, responsibility of message, and the vital role of media in building individuals, shaping awareness, and strengthening national identity.
Minister Al-Mutairi, also State Minister of Youth Affairs, was speaking at the forum’s opening held under his patronage and organized by the Kuwait Journalists Association in cooperation with the Gulf Journalists Union under the theme “The Gulf Narrative of Women in Media”.

Al-Mutairi said the event comes amid Kuwait’s vibrant cultural and media momentum as it is serving as the 2025 Arab Capital of Culture and Media; a tribute to the country’s longstanding role in supporting thought and creativity.
He stressed that Gulf women continue to excel across media fields, from print journalism to digital platforms and from editorial work to leadership and decision-making roles, demonstrating capability and innovation.
Gulf Journalists Union President and Bahrain Journalists Association Chairman Isa Al-Shaiji said Kuwait’s hosting of the forum reflects its well-earned status as a beacon of Arab culture and journalism.He noted the global media sector faces major transformations, calling for greater cooperation through joint Gulf institutions, affirming the Union’s readiness to support and empower Gulf media professionals.
Kuwait Journalists Association Chairman and Union board member Adnan Al-Rashed praised Kuwait’s leading role and announced that the 5th forum in 2026 will also be held in Kuwait under the minister’s patronage.
The forum features a session on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Gulf Journalism” and a closed dialogue with the Information Ministry’s strategy team, while tomorrow’s program includes a special session for women leaders. — KUNA
