Agreement reflects Kuwait’s transition toward diversified, innovation-driven economy
KUWAIT: Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, affirmed that the signing of a cooperation agreement between Kuwait Airways and the national platform Visit Kuwait marks a significant step in realizing Kuwait’s vision for developing a modern tourism industry built on partnership and integration. Speaking during the signing ceremony, Minister Al-Mutairi said the agreement reflects the commitment of national institutions to supporting Kuwait’s transition toward a diversified, innovation-driven economy that leverages human and cultural potential.
He noted that the cooperation with the national carrier represents a model of institutional synergy and highlights growing national awareness of the importance of integrating media and tourism to present a modern image of Kuwait befitting its regional and international standing. The minister stressed that this collaboration translates the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, towards building a sustainable economy, strengthening Kuwait’s global presence, and investing in national capabilities.
Al-Mutairi added that the agreement forms part of a broader national framework to establish a modern tourism communication system driven by technology and innovation. It aims to unify promotional efforts under a single national platform that reflects Kuwait’s cultural identity and showcases its heritage, modern attractions, and deeply rooted history. He emphasized that tourism has become a vital economic and developmental sector that diversifies income sources, promotes innovation and investment, creates opportunities for youth, and strengthens Kuwait’s cultural and human ties with the world.

He explained that the agreement aligns with this vision by bringing together Visit Kuwait—the national tourism gateway—and Kuwait Airways, the national carrier, to offer a comprehensive visitor experience that combines comfort, authenticity, and modernity. Minister Al-Mutairi expressed appreciation to Kuwait Airways for its initiative and cooperation, and to the Visit Kuwait team for their dedicated efforts in advancing national tourism.
He expressed hope that the partnership would pave the way for more high-quality collaborations that support the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035 and enhance the country’s position on the global tourism map. Speaking to reporters after the signing, Al-Mutairi said that since its launch, Visit Kuwait has introduced several initiatives that have significantly contributed to strengthening and developing the national tourism sector. He noted that the new agreement will help expand the platform’s services to meet all visitors’ needs.
The minister highlighted the platform’s interactive map featuring key attractions and events, as well as its digital guide Rashid, which provides users with essential information. He also praised the role of media outlets in covering tourism activities, noting that media plays a crucial role in supporting and developing the platform by promoting public engagement and awareness. For his part, Kuwait Airways Chairman Abdulmohsen Al-Faqaan said the agreement represents a major step toward supporting Kuwait’s efforts to strengthen its presence on the regional and global tourism and cultural map. He explained that the partnership embodies Kuwait Airways’ role as the national carrier and gateway to the world, proudly carrying Kuwait’s flag for over seven decades.
Al-Faqaan described Visit Kuwait as a pioneering initiative that allows visitors to explore the diverse opportunities and experiences the country offers in tourism, entertainment, culture, and events. He expressed pride in Kuwait Airways’ participation in the initiative—not only as a transportation partner but also as a partner in vision and development—linking Kuwait to the world and promoting its identity. He stressed that Kuwait Airways’ mission extends beyond commercial operations to serving the nation and enhancing its image internationally.
Through this cooperation, the airline aims to unify efforts in promoting and developing Kuwait’s tourism sector. Al-Faqaan expressed hope that the agreement would serve as a model of institutional integration that reflects the spirit of national partnership and shared responsibility, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.
