TOKYO: Emperor Naruhito of Japan awarded on Tuesday HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun during a formal ceremony at the Matsu-no-Ma State Room of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. The decoration, the highest Japanese decoration granted to non-Japanese nationals for over a century and a half, was bestowed in recognition of outstanding achievements, particularly in strengthening international relations.
During the ceremony, HH Sheikh Nasser conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Emperor Naruhito, expressing pride in the deep ties between the two peoples. In return, the Emperor handed HH Sheikh Nasser a message to Kuwait
conveying his greetings and best wishes for HH the Amir and the Kuwaiti people, reaffirming his commitment to enhancing Kuwaiti-Japanese relations to broader horizons.
HH Sheikh Nasser expressed his deep pride and appreciation for the gracious initiative of Emperor Naruhito. He said this honorable gesture reaffirms the distinguished relations between Kuwait and Japan and reflects a long history of constructive cooperation and joint work, noting that Japan has always been among the leading nations keen to maintain fruitful diplomatic ties with Kuwait. HH Sheikh Nasser dedicated the decoration to Kuwait, to HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal and to all the people of Kuwait.
He stressed that receiving this decoration is a tribute to Kuwait and to its distinguished diplomatic approach, established by the forefathers and rooted in mutual respect and the promotion of common interests, an approach that has preserved Kuwait’s prominent diplomatic standing among nations.
