KUWAIT: Italy’s military attaché in Kuwait, Colonel Michele Rega, said Monday that ties between Italy and Kuwait represent a “firmly established model of friendship and cooperation” built on trust and mutual respect. Speaking at a celebration of Italy’s National Unity and Armed Forces Day at the Italian Embassy, Colonel Rega noted that relations between the two countries continue to grow in political, military, cultural, and economic fields.
The event, held on November 4, was attended by Kuwait’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Meshal Al-Sabah, Air Force Commander Brigadier General Nasser Abdullah Al-Shureida, and a host of ambassadors, military attachés, and Italian personnel in Kuwait. The day commemorates the end of World War I, Italy’s unification, and honors the sacrifices of its soldiers.
“This day holds special significance for all Italians, reminding us of the values of peace, solidarity, and service to the nation,” Colonel Rega said. “These shared values unite the Italian forces with their Kuwaiti counterparts, who work side-by-side to enhance security and stability in the region.”
Colonel Rega thanked the State of Kuwait, the Ministry of Defense, and the Kuwaiti Armed Forces for their continued support and cooperation with Italian forces stationed at Ali Al-Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan. He praised the warm welcome and hospitality extended to Italian personnel.
The attaché said Italy is proud to serve alongside Kuwaiti colleagues in the international coalition, working together to promote security and peace in a strategically important region. He added that Italy remains committed to this partnership. He emphasized that cooperation extends beyond military operations to include industry, technology and training.
“Italian expertise in defense and innovation is globally recognized and can play a vital role in achieving Kuwait’s 2035 vision for development and modernization,” he said, pointing to new opportunities for joint collaboration. Colonel Rega closed by expressing gratitude to all Italian and Kuwaiti supporters who contributed to the event’s success, praising the embassy staff, the office of the military attaché, and the Regency Hotel for its hospitality.
