KUWAIT: Undersecretaries of Interior Ministries from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states convened on Wednesday in Kuwait for the preparatory meeting ahead of the 42nd GCC Interior Ministers’ meeting. The session was chaired by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and current chair, Major General Ali Al-Adwani. In his opening remarks, Major General Al-Adwani welcomed Assistant Secretary-General for Security Affairs, Brigadier General Hamad Al-Amimi, the undersecretaries of the GCC Interior Ministries, delegation members and representatives of the GCC General Secretariat.
He emphasized that the bonds of faith, kinship and shared destiny among GCC states render regional security a collective and indivisible responsibility. He highlighted the growing need for security and technological integration to address contemporary challenges, stressing the importance of moving from coordination to unified Gulf security action through joint plans and synchronized procedures. Major General Al-Adwani noted that Kuwait’s political leadership, represented by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, prioritizes strengthening the GCC framework, particularly in the field of security, asserting that regional stability forms the foundation for prosperity.
He described the meeting as a key milestone for enhancing consultations, exchanging expertise, and developing the joint Gulf security system, laying practical foundations for implementing unified strategies. The session aims to improve the efficiency of security agencies and reinforce a cohesive Gulf position in addressing current and future challenges.

Major General Al-Adwani stressed the importance of generating actionable recommendations to be submitted to the Interior Ministers at their forthcoming summit, wishing the meeting success in advancing security and stability across the GCC. Brigadier General Hamad Al-Amimi affirmed that the gathering continues the tradition of fraternal GCC security meetings, contributing to the completion of joint projects and advancing integration in the security sector. He noted that the efforts align with the goals of GCC leadership to enhance security and stability and serve the welfare of citizens and residents.
Al-Amimi conveyed greetings and appreciation from GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi, expressing gratitude to Kuwait for hosting numerous ministerial meetings, technical committees, and high-level workshops, as well as for its warm hospitality. During the session, the undersecretaries discussed agenda items aimed at strengthening joint Gulf security cooperation, reviewed the latest regional security developments, coordinated strategies to meet current challenges, and formulated recommendations for the upcoming Interior Ministers’ meeting. — KUNA
