VIENNA: Kuwait’s Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna, Talal Al-Fassam, affirmed that cooperation with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) represents a key pillar in capacity building and the exchange of expertise to strengthen global anti-corruption efforts. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday, marking the opening of the 14th session of the Assembly of States Parties to the IACA at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Al-Fassam highlighted the significance of Kuwait’s participation in the meeting, which witnessed broad international attendance.
He stressed that Kuwait’s participation reflects its firm commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at combating corruption, promoting integrity, transparency, and the rule of law. Al-Fassam noted that Kuwait attaches great importance to developing both institutional and human capacities in the field of anti-corruption, emphasizing that cooperation with the IACA continues to play a vital role in advancing professional practices and knowledge exchange.
The ambassador underscored that combating corruption requires close international cooperation and sustained coordination among countries and specialized institutions, given its transnational nature and its detrimental impact on sustainable development. Al-Fassam concluded by reaffirming Kuwait’s determination to continue its active engagement in the Assembly’s work and its support for all initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening the principles of good governance at both the national and international levels. — KUNA
