KUWAIT: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized on Tuesday a two-day workshop on enhancing the response to counterterrorism and implementing measures on financial sanctions, in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation and Chair of the Committee for the Implementation of Security Council Resolutions, Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan, told KUNA that Kuwait continues to strengthen its national capabilities to combat terrorism and align its efforts with international initiatives.

Al-Mashaan said the workshop focuses on enhancing national entities’ readiness to implement targeted financial sanctions in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, as part of Kuwait’s broader counterterrorism financing framework.He also noted that the discussions would focus on the international legal framework for combating terrorism financing, mechanisms for implementing Security Council sanctions, and mutual legal assistance in investigations related to targeted financial measures.
Among the participants were representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Public Prosecution, Kuwait Central Bank, Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit (FATF), and other relevant bodies. — KUNA
