KUWAIT: The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) celebrated its 65th anniversary on October 5, marking decades of achievements in refining, gas liquefaction, fuel supply, and petroleum marketing, CEO Wadha Al-Khateeb said in a statement to KUNA. Al-Khateeb highlighted KNPC’s success in enhancing its regional and global standing by adhering to the latest international professional, environmental, and technical standards. She noted the company’s operational excellence and capability to produce high-quality petroleum products, which has strengthened profits and opened new markets worldwide.
She emphasized that the anniversary underscores KNPC’s vital role in supporting Kuwait’s national economy and development, with continuous patronage from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the government, and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. Al-Khateeb pointed to the company’s focus on health, safety, and environmental conservation, noting advanced risk management systems, worker safety measures, and environmental policies that are regularly reviewed and updated.

She also highlighted KNPC’s proactive steps in energy transition, digital transformation, and innovation, creating an incubating environment for talented national cadres and generating dozens of patents and unique initiatives. She recalled the company’s major projects, including the Clean Fuels Project launched in September 2021, the Al-Zour Refinery in December 2023, and the ongoing integration of the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), along with the transfer of two liquefied natural gas cylinder production plants in August 2025.
Al-Khateeb described KNPC as “a vocational school” that has developed thousands of employees through rigorous training programs and contributed to cultivating professional leaders sought after in local and international sectors. She praised the dedication of successive generations of KNPC leaders and employees, extending her gratitude and best wishes for the company’s continued success. Established by Amiri Decree No. 9 on October 5, 1960, during the reign of the late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, KNPC began as a public shareholding company with 60 percent public and 40 percent private ownership, before becoming fully government-owned in 1975.— KUNA
