NEW DELHI: Kuwait is taking part in the World Food India 2025 conference, with its envoy describing the gathering as “a favorable platform for establishing partnerships with global food markets.”
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition is representing Kuwait at the event, which runs through September 28 with 21 countries and 150 international participants. The conference is held under the patronage of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to India Mishal Al-Shamali told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting highlights India’s role as “a hub for food production and exports to the world.”
“This year’s conference will focus on the sustainability of food markets, the importance of infrastructure for food production and agriculture, and on fostering innovations and ideas to preserve the optimal climate for farming while advancing food production technology,” he said.
He added that the gathering provides “a favorable platform for establishing strategic partnerships with global food markets, particularly with the Indian food market, which is considered one of the world’s key food baskets and contributes to strengthening global food security through abundant production and diverse exports.”
Modi inaugurated the fourth edition of World Food India 2025 on Thursday. In a speech, he said the conference “provides an opportunity for all stakeholders in the food sector – farmers, businessmen, investors and consumers – to connect, exchange expertise and promote innovation.”
He stressed that India contributes consistently to global food security “amid the various challenges the world faces in the 21st century,” citing policies that support farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen. Modi noted that India is the world’s largest dairy producer, responsible for 25 percent of global output, and ranks second in rice and wheat production. It is also a leading producer of sorghum, fruits, vegetables and fish. The Indian leader called his country “a unique global destination for investment in the food sector,” pointing to its diversity, large demand and economic size.
The three-day conference includes panel discussions, technical sessions, exhibitions and networking programs linking private companies, government agencies and international delegations. Countries taking part include France, Germany, Iran, Australia, South Korea, Denmark, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Belgium, Tanzania, Eritrea, Cyprus, Afghanistan, China and the United States.
