KUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah arrived in Doha on Thursday, leading Kuwait’s delegation to the emergency meeting of the Joint Defense Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) defense ministers. He was received at Doha Airport by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Qatari Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
On Wednesday, Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Sheriaan headed Kuwait’s delegation to the urgent meeting of the Supreme Military Committee of the GCC Chiefs of Staff, also held in Doha. During the session, Al-Sheriaan reiterated Kuwait’s full solidarity with Qatar following the recent aggression it faced by Zionist occupation forces. He stressed that the security of GCC states is indivisible, adding that any threat to one member constitutes a threat to all. He also underscored the need to strengthen joint operational defense plans and advance integration of defense capabilities to safeguard regional security and stability.

The Supreme Military Committee meeting, chaired by Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim Al-Mannai, strongly condemned the Zionist attack, describing it as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, a dangerous escalation, and a breach of international law and the UN Charter. The committee affirmed that an attack on Qatar amounts to an attack on all GCC states, pledging full support for measures taken by Doha to confront the aggression.
The meeting further discussed regional and international security challenges, reviewed defense and military developments, and explored ways to enhance joint defense policy, strengthen coordination, and advance military cooperation among GCC states within a unified strategy to safeguard common Gulf security. — KUNA
