NEW DELHI: Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat led Kuwait’s delegation on Tuesday in the seventh round of political consultations with senior Indian officials at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
The talks followed up on the outcomes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait in December, during which he met HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Hayat said the discussions with Vice Minister of External Affairs Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Assistant Minister for Gulf Affairs Aseem Mahajan and others covered bilateral cooperation in politics, trade, investment, culture, higher education, scientific research, civil aviation, oil, renewable energy, AI, healthcare and industry.

He stressed that Modi’s visit strengthened Kuwait-India historic ties and paved the way for further high-level visits and joint workshops throughout the year to expand cooperation. Both sides also reaffirmed shared positions on regional and international issues, particularly support for peaceful solutions to global conflicts.
Hayat praised the contributions of Kuwait’s Indian community, which exceeds one million people, noting their key role in construction, infrastructure and other sectors. The talks were described as positive, with both countries aligned on most issues. The consultations were attended by Kuwait’s Ambassador to India Meshal Al-Shamali, India’s Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Adarsh Swaika, and senior diplomats from both sides. — KUNA
