Taylor Swift’s latest will be her 12th studio album, and her fans know how important the number after that is to the singer.
The number 13 has long been Swift’s favorite.
“I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first No. 1 song had a 13-second intro,” Swift told late night talk show host Jay Leno back in 2009. “Every time I’ve won an award I’ve been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter. Basically, whenever a 13 comes up in my life, it’s a good thing.”
The superstar singer has been known to sport “13” on her hand during performances. In 2020, Swift talked to Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” and told him, “Numbers kind of rule my whole world.”
“Thirteen is lucky for some,” McCartney said.
“Yeah, it’s lucky for me. It’s my birthday. It’s all these weird coincidences of good things that have happened,” she said. “Now, when I see it places, I look at it as a sign that things are going the way they’re supposed to. They may not be good now, they could be painful now, but things are on a track. I don’t know, I love the numerology.”
That same year, she talked to Jimmy Kimmel about turning 31. After all, 31 is 13 backward.
“Until I turn 113 or 131, this will be the highlight of my life,” she jokingly said. “The numerology thing, when it doesn’t take over on its own, I sort of force it to happen.”
And if you don’t think she serious, keep in mind that Swift’s single “The Lucky One” has a 13-second intro, is the 13th track on her 2021 album, “Red (Taylor’s Version),” and the word “lucky” appears 13 times in the song.
If Swift or her boyfriend Travis Kelce are reading this, the 13th also seems like a great day for a wedding.
Just saying.
