KUWAIT: Kuwait customs inspectors at Abdali foiled an attempt to smuggle unlicensed weapons and ammunition through the Abdali border north of the country, the customs general department said Monday. A Kuwaiti citizen arriving from Iraq was searched and found to be in possession of two unlicensed 9mm Glock firearms and 50 rounds of ammunition of the same caliber.
In another incident, inspection procedures resulted in the arrest of an Iraqi national working as a driver for passenger transport as he was leaving Kuwait for his home country. A total of 1,395 rounds of ammunition for a 12 mm Shutgon were found in his vehicle, hidden in secret places. The seized items were referred to the Ministry of Interior.
The General Administration of Customs affirms that it will not tolerate any attempt to smuggle weapons or ammunition, and that it will continue to intensify inspections at all land, sea, and air ports of entry and take all legal measures against violators to protect the security of the country and society.
