Arne Slot would be the first Dutchman to manage the Community Shield winners if the Reds prevail.
Equally, Palace boss Oliver Glasner is aiming to become the first Austrian coach to take charge of the Community Shield winners.
The two sides have met 65 times in all competitions previously, with Liverpool winning 36 of those.
The Reds have lost only one of the last 16 encounters between the clubs – in April 2024 when Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game at Anfield.
This meeting comes 77 days after the sides drew 1-1 at Anfield on the final day of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Mohamed Salah has scored nine goals in 14 appearances against Palace.
This will be Liverpool’s 46th visit to Wembley. They won 23 of the previous 45.
Each of the last two Community Shield matches, and four of the past six, have been decided by a penalty shootout.
The clubs have met only once before at a neutral venue – the Eagles won 4-3 at Villa Park in an FA Cup semi-final in 1990.
Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate made their Liverpool debuts against Palace – in August 2017 and September 2021 respectively.
