KUWAIT: Director General of the General Administration of Radio at the Ministry of Information, Dr Yousef Al-Sari’, said the launch of the “Radio Qalatat Al-Ethaa” program reflects Kuwait Radio’s commitment to highlighting and preserving Kuwaiti and Gulf folk heritage as a core component of national cultural identity. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday, Al-Sari’ explained that the program focuses on the art of Qalta and poetic dialogue, one of the oldest forms of folk poetry in the region. The program explores its history, prominent figures and developmental stages by hosting a group of leading poets who have played a key role in preserving, documenting and passing on this art across generations.
He noted that “Radio Qalatat Al-Ethaa” is not limited to reviving heritage, but also provides a platform for a new generation of dialogue poets to showcase their talents. The program introduces emerging poetic voices that uphold authenticity while contributing to the development of the art through contemporary styles that reflect the spirit of the age without compromising its roots.

Al-Sari’ stressed that the program represents a cultural project in both content and vision, aligning with the Ministry of Information’s role in supporting popular culture and strengthening its presence across media platforms. He added that folk poetry has long served as a true mirror of Kuwaiti and Gulf society, expressing its values, customs and traditions.
He explained that broadcasting the program on Kuwait Radio and Al-Dana Folk Arts Station reflects integrated media efforts to deliver high-quality content that appeals to diverse segments of society and expands the reach of this poetic genre.
