KUWAIT: The Ghaith Task Force at the Ministry of Defense has intensified preparations for the rainy season by holding a coordination meeting at the 94th Mechanized Brigade (Saleh Al-Mohammed Brigade) to review field operations and enhance cooperation among participating state agencies. In a statement issued Monday, the Kuwaiti Army General Staff said the meeting focused on mechanisms for addressing emergency reports and supporting government institutions to ensure rapid and effective response during severe weather. The meeting was chaired by Assistant Commander of the Task Force, Brigadier General Bader Al-Shatti, with the attendance of officers from various units to unify efforts and bolster overall readiness.
Meanwhile, Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, forecast scattered rainfall across the country — occasionally thundery — ranging from light to moderate and heavy in some areas from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali said weather maps and numerical models indicate Kuwait will be affected by a gradually deepening surface low-pressure system, coinciding with an upper-level low and accompanied by a warm, humid air mass. This will result in increased low and medium-altitude clouds, with cumulonimbus formations raising the likelihood of rain of varying intensity.
He cautioned that rainfall may lead to reduced horizontal visibility and increased chances of fog in some areas during the evening and early morning hours. Winds are expected to be southeasterly to variable, light to moderate, and may become active at times, potentially causing dust. The chance of intermittent rainfall is expected to persist until Saturday. The Meteorological Department urged citizens and residents to follow updates through its official platforms to stay informed of the latest weather developments.— KUNA
