KUWAIT: Dasman Diabetes Institute, a center of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zain Kuwait to enhance cooperation in innovation, science, and technology related to diabetes. This comes as part of supporting national efforts aimed at improving quality of life and reducing health risks through advanced digital solutions. The MoU was signed by Dr Faisal Hamed Al-Refaei, Acting Director General of Dasman Diabetes Institute, and Nawaf Al-Gharabally, CEO of Zain Kuwait. Both parties emphasized that this partnership aims to support innovation in healthcare through launching research and technology initiatives based on data and scientific analytics, in collaboration with global partners such as Huawei and Harvard University.
Dr Faisal Al-Refaei stated that this MoU includes implementing a pilot project to develop digital solutions for people with diabetes by providing smart devices from Huawei to measure vital indicators, support preventive care, and develop a secure digital health platform to manage and analyze data under the full supervision of Dasman Diabetes Institute and in accordance with the highest privacy standards. The partnership also aims to strengthen joint scientific research between Dasman Diabetes Institute, Kuwait University, and one of Harvard University’s laboratories, with technology support from Zain.
